At GenkiThai.com we learn Thai by using games.  Just play around on a theme you don’t know within 20 minutes you’ll understand all the words.  It’s even better if you can get a friend or two on another machine to race to see who can do each game the quickest.  Once you can do each game perfectly 3 times without any mistakes, you’ll have mastered all the Thai.  That will take you around an hour per theme, but it’s a very fun hour!

Here’s a cool game to learn the names of some drinks in Thai.

Click the pictures to hear the words.  Then try the game.

Even better, get a friend on another machine and race to see who can do the game the quickest.

The drinks we have are orange juice, milkshake, cola, water, tea, coffee, beer & wine!

Here we learn how to say “Thank you” in Thai, “How much?” in Thai and “Hello” and “How are you?” in Thai.

As you may know already, men can add khrap and women can add kaa to the of how much, hello and thank you to make them more polite.

Play around with the sounds below then try the game!

1. Click “game” then “start”, then listen and click the correct phrase.
2. Then you’ll hear two phrases, click those in the order you hear them.
3. If you can get to 12 you are doing very well!
4. Play with a friend and see who can get the highest score!

Here are the numbers in Thai. Not just 1 to 10 in Thai, not just up to 11, but all the way up to 12.
Numbers are probably the easiest and best thing to learn in Thai. Once you can negotiate without other tourists understanding you get much better deals on everything from t-shirts to hotel rooms!

The words we have are: eat, drink, read, sleep, sing, cook, dance & swim.  All words you’ll use in Thailand!

Today we learn some body parts in Thai, along with the phrase “my …. hurts.”

We have my head hurts, my arm hurts, my hand hurts, my leg hurts, my foot hurts, my stomach hurts and my tooth hurts in Thai.

As usual click around on the words a few times and try the game.  Or get a friend on another computer and see who can do the game the quickest!

Once you’ve done Thai numbers 1 to 10 it’s very easy to do 10, 20, 30 etc. You simply say 3 10 for 30 or 4 10 for 40. We’ve also included 100, 1,000 and 10,000 which you use in just the same way e.g. 300 is just the word for 3 plus the number for 100.

As usual play around with the sounds below then try the game. Race against a friend, or several friends on different computers to see who can do the game the fastest!

Here are some names of vegetables in Thai: onions, chillies, carrots, cashew nuts, mushrooms, potatoes, cabbage, tomatoes. Useful if you want to know what’s in your Thai food!
